Oblique Strategies for Modern Warfare

Collages for a very open brief in my HND course. We had to create six images for a calendar, and my initial idea of basing a calendar on Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt's Oblique Strategies cards took on unexpected meaning once I decided out of the blue to illustrate them in the style of Dadaist photomontage. I realised the cards' text could be applied to comment on the horror of WW1 that the Dadaists captured, so I ended up plumbing public domain sources (Wikimedia Commons, Scran, various museum archives) for period imagery to cut together. The images include WW1 propaganda posters, cute 19th century illustrations, some of my own photography / drawing / painted type, that and a bit of 1910s pornography.
